The incident occurred around 1:30 pm on Monday (5:30 am in Lisbon) when a wall of the house under construction collapsed, instantly killing three people and seriously injuring two others.

Despite rescue efforts, one of the injured did not survive the injuries and died later in hospital.

Preliminary investigations indicate that an incorrect operation of the crane during the placement of the concrete was the main cause of the accident.

The crane bucket will have accidentally hit a structural column of the house, causing the wall to collapse.

The crane operator was arrested by local authorities and is being held in custody pending a further investigation to determine responsibility for the incident.

The Asian country frequently registers incidents at construction sites.

In September, six people died and five were injured in Sichuan province, central China, when a crane fell while collecting material for the construction of a bridge, near the city of Jianyang.
