The doorman of a building in Vigo, Spain, claimed 18,000 euros from the community of neighbors because, according to him, they caused him harassment at the workplace that led him to a sick leave due to an anxiety crisis. However, the court did not decide in his favor.

According to La Voz de Galicia, the doorman had been providing services since 2022 and took the community to court because he considered that they violated his fundamental rights by feeling like a victim of "workplace harassment".

The problems started when, in January 2023, the owners ordered the replacement of a piece of the community gutter. Some neighbors protested the temperature of the water and the problems started from there.

Another problem arose later with the original tiles of the building, which had been stored for half a century or more. A tenant who was not the owner of the apartment needed them for some work. However, on his own initiative, a neighbor requested the same tiles from the doorman and he went to look for them and delivered them. As the first tenant did not find the ceramic pieces, he accused the doorman of deceiving him and sent a WhatsApp with threats.

Days later, the tension increased with the same neighbor, who in a disagreement because the internet was not working, called the doorman "crazy". After another altercation, the doorman sought a doctor who gave him a leave of absence for anxiety disorder.

In court, the decision dated December 11, 2023, ruled out the possibility of moral harassment because the harasser was a neighbor who, in fact, was not the owner and, therefore, is not part of the community. The judge counted four episodes in seven months, which he considers to be "specific" events and not harassment.
