The Ukrainian army is in a panic and the Russian forces should take advantage of this situation to continue advancing on the battlefront, said today the spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov.

"Panic is growing on the Ukrainian side of the front... We all have old friends, friends' relatives and others who are fighting on the front. Some come on leave and tell us, others share over the phone, by letter. This is first-hand information, there is panic on the other side," he said on Russian television.
The Kremlin spokesman added that "now it is very important to support this momentum, not to stop and to move forward in fulfilling" Russia's objectives in Ukraine.
After the failure of the Ukrainian military counteroffensive last summer, Russian forces seized the initiative, took the stronghold of Avdiivka and have been steadily advancing in eastern Ukraine, helped by delays in Western aid to Kyiv.
In the past week, the situation has worsened with the Russian army's sudden push towards the village of Ocheretyne, a strategic high point northwest of Avdiivka in Ukraine's Donetsk region, and the capture of several villages.
They are also continuing to advance towards Chasiv Yar, the eventual capture of which would allow the Russian army to threaten the Ukrainian strongholds of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, key to controlling the Donetsk region.
