Jareh Sebastian Dalke, 32, pleaded guilty in October to six counts of attempted transmission of national defense information to a foreign government agent.

The computer specialist worked at the NSA for less than a month before abruptly resigning in June 2022, citing family issues.

During that time, he printed out classified defense documents and, after his resignation, tried to sell them to a man he believed was a Russian agent but who was actually an undercover FBI agent, according to court documents.

"This sentence demonstrates that those who attempt to betray our country will be held accountable for their crimes," U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.
