A 40-year-old man kicked a bison in the leg while intoxicated on the afternoon of April 21 in Yellowstone National Park in the United States. The Idaho Falls man was injured and arrested.
Clarence Yoder approached the animal, which gored him, about seven miles from the park’s west entrance, park officials said in a statement cited by ABC News.
“Rangers responded to the area after receiving a report of an individual harassing a bison herd and kicking one of the animals in the leg. […] They located the suspect’s vehicle near the west entrance and stopped it in West Yellowstone, Montana,” they detailed.
The man was arrested and charged with being under the influence of alcohol, disorderly conduct and approaching and harassing wildlife.
The driver of the vehicle Yoder was in, 37-year-old McKenna Bass, was also arrested and charged with driving under the influence, impeding traffic by failing to pull over for emergency lights and harassing wildlife.
The couple appeared in court on April 22 and pleaded not guilty. However, they face fines of up to $5,000 (about 4,662 euros) and six months in jail.
