A woman has broken a record for having the world's longest hair, which according to Guinness World Records, measures 257.33 centimeters (8 feet 5.3 inches).

Aliia Nasyrova is from Ukraine but lives in Slovakia, where she works as a hair model and also creates illustrations.

That's more than 90 centimeters (3 feet) longer than the woman herself, and even longer than the world's tallest man, Sultan Kösen, who is 2.51 meters (8 feet 3 inches) tall.

The 35-year-old told Guinness World Records that she has never cut her hair and hopes her record will "inspire people to embrace their natural beauty and uniqueness."

Aliia says her inspiration for her look comes not only from Rapunzel, the fictional character who lives in a tower and has very long hair, but also from her mother and grandmother.

She only washes her hair once a week, which takes about half an hour. She also prefers to let her hair dry naturally.

"I brush it only when it's dry [which can take 24 hours], which takes about an hour on wash days and about 30 minutes on non-wash days," she explains.

The record-breaker also says that she only uses natural products in her hair, but she does take vitamins and massages her scalp.
