May 1. Hundreds gather in London to demand more workers' rights
Hundreds of people took to the streets of London today to demand better workers' rights at home and abroad on May Day.

Among the demands of the organization, in addition to the improvement of working conditions and the increase of the minimum wage, were also the fight against racism, the protection of the health system, and the demand for a ceasefire in Gaza, whose situation "shocked the citizens and must change".
Stella, retired, told EFE that it is important to continue to raise one's voice against a system that she considers "perverse" and that "must be overthrown by the working class through general strikes".
For the protester, who did not want to give her full name, the United Kingdom Government, in particular, wants to "eliminate the right to strike", a reference to the law presented in 2023 to be able to set minimum services in some professions.
In fact, this is one of the reasons why the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) considered that this year labour rights worsened in the British territory, according to the Global Rights Index.
For Alan Kenny, a member of the British Socialist Workers Party, the unity of the workforce is key to questioning governments and protesting against certain attitudes.
"At the same time, unfortunately, we have a Labour party that does not really represent the change that people want to see today", he added.
Although it is not a holiday in the country, the organising committee of the British capital called on workers for a demonstration that ended with a rally in Trafalgar Square.
