University of California cancels classes amid protests
The University of California, Los Angeles, announced that classes were canceled today after clashes between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli demonstrators on the campus quad.

The announcement that classes were canceled today was made in a post on the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) social media account on X (formerly Twitter).
"Due to the disruption caused by the violence that occurred on Royce Quad last night and early this morning, all classes are canceled today. Please avoid the Royce Quad area," the post read.
The clashes at UCLA took place around a tent encampment set up by pro-Palestinian demonstrators. Counter-protesters attempted to tear down a line of police barricades and pallets at one end of the encampment.
Clashes broke out at a pro-Palestinian demonstration on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles on Tuesday, according to footage broadcast on U.S. television. Los Angeles police "responded to a request for assistance (from university officials) on campus immediately," a spokesperson for the city wrote on social media platform X.
