"Seven children were injured. They were at the sports complex at the time of the attack. Among them are six boys and one girl. They are between the ages of 09 and 15," the Prosecutor General's Office said on the Telegram social network.
A 76-year-old man was also injured, according to the same source.
Regional Governor Oleg Sinegubov said the attack was carried out with guided aerial bombs, a weapon increasingly used by Moscow.
The Kharkiv region, which borders Russia, has been under almost constant fire since the Moscow army occupied much of the territory at the start of the invasion of Ukraine, and before a first counteroffensive by Kyiv in the autumn of 2022.
In recent months, Russia has used new and powerful guided aerial bombs with devastating consequences.
On Wednesday, two civilians traveling in a car were killed by a bomb of this type, launched by Russian forces in the Kharkiv region.
