An Israeli man with Portuguese citizenship who was taken hostage in Gaza since a Hamas raid on October 7 is dead. The news was confirmed this Thursday by the Israeli government, reports The Guardian.
“It is now confirmed that Dror Or was murdered, and his body is being held in Gaza”, published the Israeli government on its social media account X [formerly Twitter].
Dror Or, 49, is a Sephardic Jew who had obtained Portuguese citizenship.
The man was kidnapped on October 7 along with his wife and two children, Noam, 16, and Alma, 13. The woman was shot and killed that same day, while the two children were released on November 25, as part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The man's nephew, Liam Or, 18, was also released on November 29.

The family was sheltering in a room when Hamas invaded and set fire to the house. The teenagers jumped out of a window and tried to hide, but they were found and taken to Gaza. Noam was put in the boot of a stolen car and Alma was transported in the front of the vehicle, along with eight terrorists. On the day they were released, they found out that their mother had been killed and that their father was still in captivity.
Now comes the confirmation that he too did not survive.
