Russian security services said they have "neutralized" a suspect who "was planning a series of attacks in Russia, including against Defense Ministry facilities in the Moscow region" and against a "battalion of volunteer fighters" in Saint Petersburg.

The Ria Novosti news agency published FSB footage showing men firing at a shelter where the suspect was allegedly holed up, in a field in the Leningrad region, then a photo presented as his corpse.

According to the Russian authorities, the suspect was a Russian national born in 1976 and recruited by Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR).

Since the start of the invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022, the Russian authorities have claimed to have foiled several terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage organized by agents recruited by Kyiv in Russia.

Ukraine has also been accused of carrying out several assassinations or attempted assassinations in Russia against pro-Kremlin figures.

Attacks against military recruitment offices - attributed by the Russian authorities to opponents of the conflict or to agents recruited by Kyiv - have also been frequent, according to the Russian authorities.

Today, the Russian news agency TASS reported that a military court in Khabarovsk (in eastern Russia) has sentenced a man accused of setting fire to a military recruitment office and desecrating Russian flags near the graves of soldiers killed in Ukraine to 15 years in prison.

In the occupied Ukrainian region of Lugansk, in eastern Ukraine, the FSB also said it had arrested a woman accused of passing on information to Ukraine to guide its strikes.
