"CIA Director Burns is on his way to Doha for an emergency meeting with the Qatari Prime Minister to explore the possibilities of resuming talks", after "no progress" was made in Cairo, the same source explained.
Together with the United States and Egypt, Qatar has been involved in talks between Tel Aviv and the Islamist group to end the hostilities in Gaza.
The latest round of negotiations between those responsible for the conflict ended this Sunday, with Israel guaranteeing that it will not accept any agreement that requires the end of the war.
"Israel cannot accept," said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "We are not prepared to accept a situation in which Hamas battalions leave their bunkers, reassert control over Gaza, rebuild their military infrastructure and return to threatening the citizens of Israel in the neighboring communities, in the southern cities, in all parts of the country," he said.
On the other hand, Hamas had said on Saturday that the end of the conflict was a condition for an agreement with Israel. An official from the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas explained that "under no circumstances will it accept an agreement that does not explicitly provide for the end of the war."
