In a study revealed one month before the beginning of the European elections -- which will take place between June 06 and 09 -- TI UE shows, by analysing the declarations of interests of the Portuguese Members of the European Parliament, that the parallel remunerations vary between 14 euros of Sandra Pereira (PCP), in attendance fees in a Parish Assembly, and more than 68 thousand euros per year of the newcomer Ricardo Morgado (PSD, replacing Cláudia Monteiro de Aguiar, who left for the Government), as legal representative of an institution and who is in the 27th position of the highest declared incomes.
TI UE reveals that the MEP Viktor Uspaskich is the one with the highest income: he declares three million euros per year that he receives from a 'holding', followed by the French Jérôme Rivière, who declares 220.24 thousand euros, and Laszlo Trocsanyi, from Hungary, with 171.6 thousand euros per year.
TI UE stresses that the parliament "continues to suffer from a series of allegations of foreign influence involving MEPs who receive money in exchange for the dissemination of Russian propaganda" and reiterates the concerns about conflicts of interest.
