"I have decided to summon the Russian ambassador over cyberattacks against Czech institutions and critical infrastructure," Jan Lipavsky told AFP news agency.

"We call on the Russian Federation to refrain from such behaviour, which is against the norms of the UN and its own obligations," he added.

Several European countries, including Germany and Poland, said last week they had been targeted by cyberattacks by Russian hackers backed by Moscow.

The attacks have been blamed on the APT28 group, also known as "Fancy Bear", which is allegedly linked to Russia's military intelligence service, the GRU.

Berlin has also accused Russian intelligence services of being behind a "massive" cyberattack in 2023 targeting members of Germany's Social Democratic Party (SPD). On Friday, the German government said it had summoned the chargé d'affaires at the Russian embassy over the incident.

Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan said last week that his country's infrastructure had recently registered dozens of such attacks.
