A Michigan man has been charged with making and transporting explosives to attack what’s described as a Satanic temple in Massachusetts. The Associated Press reports the case dates back to 2023, when the man traveled between the two states with the goal of blowing up a building in Salem. “Building explosive devices and transporting them with the intent to harm civilians and damage property puts all of us at risk,” said U.S. Attorney Mark Totten. The man, identified as Luke Terpstra, has been charged with transporting explosives and possessing unregistered explosives. He’s being held in the Newaygo County Jail and is scheduled to be in court Monday. When he traveled to Salem in September of last year, he had an explosive device, several firearms, and ammunition. No violence was reported. The Satanic Temple in Salem says it doesn’t believe in Satan but describes itself as “a non-theistic religious organization” that promotes secularism, according to the AP. It has an art gallery on the property. Also Read: South African police arrest more than 600,000 people in a year
