Israel orders evacuation of areas east of Rafah, north of Gaza

The Israeli military ordered today the evacuation of the population of areas in the east of Rafah, six days after having started a military operation in that city in the south of the Gaza Strip, and in various points in the north of the enclave.

The order affects the Rafah and Shabura camps, as well as the Adari and Jeneina neighborhoods, whose population is advised to go to the Al Mawasi "humanitarian zone", a coastal area already saturated with displaced people in makeshift tents, without running water or sanitation.

In the north of the Palestinian enclave, Israel ordered the departure of residents and displaced persons from several neighborhoods and cities between Jabalia and Beit Lahia, which it designated as a "dangerous combat zone" and asked them to move west of Gaza City.

In a statement released through leaflets, telephone messages and on the social network X, the Israeli army justifies referring that the Israeli defense forces are "working hard against terrorist organizations in the region", so that families would be exposed to danger.

The army also warns that it is forbidden to approach the security fence that surrounds the enclave, which implies "putting life in danger", since the military has orders to shoot.

Palestinian medical sources reported aerial and artillery bombardments in Rafah, in the south, and in the north, specifically in Beit Lahia and in the Zeitun neighborhood, in the city of Gaza, where Israel resumed military operations in the face of the return of the Hamas radical movement.

Israel launched its "limited operation" in Rafah on Monday with the order to withdraw about 100,000 people on the eastern outskirts of the city and the following day took control of the Palestinian part of the Rafah crossing, which connects to Egypt.

Since then, the army has reported "selective attacks" to capture Hamas fighters in the east of the city.

The Gaza Strip is devastated by the war triggered on October 7 by a Hamas attack on Israeli soil, which killed more than 1,100 people.

Since then, the Israeli retaliation in the Gaza Strip has left more than 34,900 dead, mostly women and children, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health of the local government, controlled by Hamas.
