The party leader and mayor of Ripoll, Silvia Orriols, thanked the support she received from more than 118,000 voters in order to, she said, fight for a "free, prosperous, safe and western Catalan State".
Her party, she assured, wants to "pressure and condition as much as possible the policies that are made".
The "independence" and the 'control of borders' are the two main issues mentioned by Silvia Orriols.
Orriols confirmed that her new status as a deputy will not make her give up the mayor's office of Ripoll, which she leads with only one councilor, and stressed that, "by a very small percentage", her party was left without a much more important presence in the Catalan 'parliament', as indicated by some polls.
Silvia Orriols was speaking at the party's headquarters, where the press was prevented from entering on the grounds of lack of space.
According to the Spanish news agency EFE, the only signs of what was happening inside the headquarters of the Catalan Alliance were the shouts of jubilation, the first when the first poll showed that the party had won parliamentary representation.
