The 162nd Division is fighting in the east of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, where they say they have killed several Hamas fighters, as well as located and confiscated weapons found in a school and destroyed military infrastructure.

In Jabalia, where Israel has resumed its military offensive, the 98th Division is fighting to prevent Hamas from regrouping in that city in the north of Gaza, where bloody fighting has been taking place since Sunday.

"The Air Force struck several Hamas targets, including underground sites and a building where operatives were meeting," the Israeli military said.

Meanwhile, the 99th Division is continuing its offensive in Zeitun, a neighborhood in the south of Gaza where Hamas was also regrouping and where troops raided a weapons cache in the home of a Palestinian operative, according to the Israeli military.

The military also reported that five soldiers have been seriously injured in recent days at various points in the Gaza Strip, as well as a Defense Ministry consultant.

In Rafah, two soldiers were seriously injured today in fighting that also wounded a contractor for the Defense Ministry who was on a mission in the area.

Another soldier was injured on Sunday night in fighting in the north of the Strip, while two others were seriously injured in an accident in the area bordering the enclave, near the Israeli town of Nir Am.

Israel is today celebrating Memorial Day, a solemn commemoration of Israeli soldiers who have died in conflict, which this year has special significance for the 272 soldiers who died in the Gaza Strip and the 340 who died as a result of Hamas attacks on October 7.

More than 35,000 Gazans have died in Gaza, the majority of them civilians, including 15,000 children, according to figures from the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called for a full investigation into the attack that killed a UN employee in the Rafah area of the southern Gaza Strip earlier today.

"The Secretary-General was deeply saddened to learn of the death of a United Nations Department of Safety and Security staff member and the injury of another staff member from the same department when their clearly marked UN vehicle was hit as they were traveling to the European Hospital in Rafah this morning," said Guterres' Deputy Spokesman, Farhan Haq.

António Guterres condemned all attacks against UN personnel and called for a "full investigation", while sending his condolences to the family of the staff member who lost his life in today's attack.

"With the conflict in Gaza continuing to take a heavy toll - not only on civilians, but also on humanitarian workers - the Secretary-General reiterates his urgent call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the release of all hostages," added Haq.
