The trial of the controversial case of Daniel Sancho, accused of murdering and dismembering Colombian Edwin Arrieta, ended last week in Koh Samui - the sentence will be known on August 29 - but the young man's family has not had any rest.
Upon returning to Spain after spending a month in Thailand supporting his son, well-known actor Rodolfo Sancho reported having been the victim of an extortion attempt by a witness.
He is a Venezuelan who, in 2021, reported Edwin Arrieta for attempted sexual assault. He is said to have been the one who contacted Sancho's defence to collaborate in the trial. After verifying the data, the lawyers decided to work with him, paying for his visa and an airfare to Koh Samui. The idea was for this witness to participate in the trial to reinforce Daniel Sancho's thesis, who guarantees that he acted in self-defense after the Colombian surgeon tried to rape him.
However, this man never appeared in court. Instead, he asked Rodolfo Sancho for a large sum of money and threatened to tell him that both he and his son's defence had tried to 'buy' him.
"I never looked for a false witness. Never", insisted Daniel Sancho's father. "I want to make it clear that it is a fallacy that I bought anyone. Neither the witnesses, nor the judge or the prosecutor", he added.
