A young man drove 17 hours from Florida to Hammond, Indiana, in the United States, to surprise his older sister at her nursing school graduation ceremony earlier this month.
The video was shared by the lucky recipient, Kylei Gray, and shows her emotional reaction to seeing her brother. "When your brother drives 17 hours to see you walk across the stage for nursing school graduation," she wrote in the caption.
The young woman told Storyful that her brother was not supposed to be able to attend the ceremony because he was at college in Florida and that it came as a complete surprise. "It was his finals week and we knew he wouldn't be able to make it. Last minute, his finals got rescheduled and once he finished his test on Wednesday, he left his dorm, drove home and surprised me," she said.
According to Gray, the video was taken during a nursing pinning ceremony, which, according to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), is a ceremony that takes place at the end of a nursing program and signifies the official entry into the profession.
During the ceremony, students are officially "pinned" by a faculty member who places a ribbon or pin on their lapel.
