A violent car crash killed three young people and critically injured three others Saturday in Pasadena, California, in the United States.
The victims, who ranged in age from 17 to 22, were the driver and two passengers in a Tesla, the Los Angeles Times reported. The three other passengers were hospitalized. A widely circulated video — which you can see in the gallery above — shows the car, which was traveling at more than 100 mph, apparently flying several feet into the air before slamming into a utility pole and a vacant building. The white Tesla Model 3 sedan lost control on a curve, hit a curb and careened off the road, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Authorities believe the car flew more than 128 feet before striking the pole and the building. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The county medical examiner’s office will conduct toxicology tests to determine whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The driver had been charged in September with driving under the influence of alcohol. A memorial of flowers, candles and other mementos from friends and family members grew Monday at the crash site.
