The floods in Rio Grande do Sul left a trail of destruction and death, affecting millions of people throughout the Brazilian state, but also thousands of animals. Emotional images, such as the one of the horse that was isolated on a roof, and touching rescues, as happened recently with a dog in Canoas, have multiplied.

The animal moved a team of volunteers from Santa Catarina, on Saturday, in a shelter, after hugging the leg of a veterinarian who was taking care of several rescued dogs in that municipality.

The veterinarian, Liandra Dall’Orsoletta, coordinator of the Small Animal Care Center (NAPA) in Chapecó, was surprised and was moved when she realized what the dog was doing.

"When I went to pull my leg, I felt that something was holding it. I looked and I saw him. He was crying. The most beloved thing. I say that my face of pity was bigger than his face of pity, because it really broke my heart", she said, according to the website G1.

The video, which you can see in the gallery above, quickly went viral.

It should be noted that at least 147 people have already died in Rio Grande do Sul due to the heavy rains and floods that have hit the state since the end of April. There are still 127 missing and 806 injured.
