The €400 million, which includes €150 million from European funds, was raised through the Green Africa-Europe Energy initiative, which aims to involve European and African public and private sector stakeholders to increase electricity production and access to energy, promote energy efficiency, support reforms for a regulatory environment conducive to private investment and promote market integration.
This Team Europe initiative is the energy component of the European Global Gateway strategy in Africa.
Team Europe is made up of the European Union, the Member States - including their executive agencies and public development banks - as well as the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Team Europe initiatives are developed under the Global Europe strategy, the EU's main financial instrument for international cooperation from 2021 to 2027.
