Guardia Civil and Customs Authority officers have made the largest seizure of ecstasy pills to date at Son Sant Joan Airport in Palma, Spain, after finding 10,900 MDMA pills.

The officers also discovered 2.1 kilos of methamphetamines in tomato cans that a man, who has since been arrested, was trying to introduce into Mallorca.

The seizure took place on May 7, after a 58-year-old man from the Netherlands tried to enter Mallorca, with the appearance of a tourist. The officers began to suspect him after he gave incoherent answers to the questions asked when entering the country. They then decided to inspect the two suitcases he was carrying, and ended up discovering the narcotics.

The ecstasy was hidden inside a double bottom of the suitcase, and he was also carrying methamphetamines inside four tomato cans.

The man was arrested for drug trafficking, and the judge ordered that he be held in preventive detention without the right to bail until he is sentenced.
