The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is the world's largest financier of programs to combat these diseases.

According to Minister Sílvia Lutucuta, who spoke at the signing ceremony of the agreement with the Global Fund, known as GC7, the new grant, now worth 126 million dollars (about 116.5 million euros), will also include the Bié region, due to the high number of cases of malaria.

"Until June of this year, the provinces of Benguela and Cuanza Sul will be supported and from July 2024, under the new grant, the province of Bié will be included in the project of this important donor partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, as well as in the strengthening of the Health System", she highlighted.

Lutucuta said she hopes that the grant will materialize into concrete actions and help improve the efficiency in the implementation of activities and execution of resources made available for the prevention and control of these diseases in the three supported provinces.

She assured that the executive is committed to the health sector, highlighting the increase in financial resources, investment in human capital with the entry of health professionals, and improving access to health services and medicines, with the rehabilitation and expansion of health units and the carrying out of grouped purchases.

Regarding training, she stressed that the Ministry of Health plans, in the near future, within the scope of the specialization of 38,000 health professionals, to have sufficient capacity to manage and implement future grants efficiently and effectively.

She also stressed that the Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, is working on a sustainable financing model, to implement the co-financing of health, recognizing that in order to achieve the objectives of the grant it is necessary to promote community activities.

The community health policy has already been concluded and is in the approval phase, she added.
