Operation against 'Ndrangheta leads to 129 arrests in southern Italy
Italy's Interior Ministry announced today the arrest of 129 people in an operation against the 'Ndrangheta in the Calabria region, where the organization considered the most dangerous criminal organization in Europe is predominantly active.

The detainees are charged with various crimes, mainly drug trafficking and mafia association to commit crimes. The arrests were made early in the morning, through a joint operation of several police forces, according to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, quoted by the Europa Press agency.
A court had issued 142 arrest warrants and 129 were executed, of which 20 are to be served under house arrest.
The investigation targeted the two main crime groups operating in Calabria, which dominated the drug trafficking centers and managed the sale of various substances, with the support of other groups.
