General Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence, said on Tuesday that "the situation is on the brink of disaster" in Kharkiv, in a video message recorded from a bunker in the region, which has been under siege by the Russian army in recent days.

According to Budanov, "the situation is getting closer to critical every hour" and the reason for this scenario is the severe lack of weapons, especially artillery ammunition, EFE reports.

The head of military intelligence also revealed that the Russian attacks in the northeast of the country in recent days aim to deplete the reserves of Ukrainian soldiers and distract them so that they leave other regions unprotected.

"All our forces are here or in Chasiv Yar. We have used everything we had. Unfortunately, we have no one else in reserve," Budanov said.

It should be recalled that Russian troops crossed the border in the Kharkiv region in recent days, opening a new front of combat and taking control of several towns, similar to what they had done in the first months of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and were later repelled.

At least 7,531 civilians, including 568 minors, have already been evacuated from the Kharkiv region, in northeastern Ukraine, as a preventive measure against the Russian military offensive.

"The evacuation continues, but every day, every minute, it becomes more difficult," said Kharkiv Governor Oleg Sinegubov, speaking to Ukrainian journalists, warning of the worsening situation in the Vovchansk area, just a few kilometers from the border with Russia.
