"In certain areas, near Lukiantsi and Vovchansk, in response to enemy fire and an infantry attack, our units maneuvered to more advantageous positions in order to save the lives of our soldiers and avoid losses. The battle continues," the Ukrainian General Staff said on social media.

In Vovchansk, the largest city to be targeted by the current Russian offensive, the situation is "critical", the head of the local military administration, Tamaz Gambarashvili, admitted on Tuesday, referring to the "constant shelling" and fighting "on the outskirts of the city".

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russia is making "tactical advances" and about 30 villages are under fire.

About seven thousand people have been evacuated from their homes due to the attacks.

On the other hand, Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned electricity company, announced to consumers that it will cut off electricity supplies to households and businesses in all regions of the country for certain periods of time today, due to the deficit created by the latest Russian attacks.

The company had already implemented controlled blackouts on Tuesday night to reduce electricity consumption.

Since March 22, Russia has launched five major missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian electricity infrastructure, destroying much of its production capacity.

The Ukrainian electricity sector is working around the clock to repair the damage and develop new forms of production, with the aim of avoiding the blackouts that left millions of Ukrainians without power for weeks in the autumn of 2022.
