Kyiv denies Moscow's claim of taking southern town
Ukraine denied today the capture of the town of Robotine, in the Zaporizhzhia region (south), by Russian troops, as claimed by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"There have been four battles in the Robotine area since the start of the day. There are no changes in the positions of our troops and the situation is under control," the Ukrainian army said in a statement quoted by the Spanish agency EFE.
Robotine was retaken by Ukraine in August 2023, in one of the greatest successes of a Kiev counteroffensive that failed in the autumn without achieving the expected results.
The Ukrainian army also said that Russian troops have been trying to expel Kiev forces from Vovchansk, the largest city in the border area of the Kharkiv region, where Russia has managed to open a new front.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, Ukrainian troops have been inspecting the northwestern areas of Vovchansk in search of possible Russian infiltration groups.
The army also said in the statement that Russia has resorted to air strikes in the northern part of the Kharkiv region to destroy Ukrainian positions.
The Russian Defense Ministry today claimed to have taken the towns of Glubokoe and Lukiantsi, in the Kharkiv region (northeast), in addition to Robotine.
Glubokoe and Lukiantsi are located on the western axis opened by the Russian army in the offensive it launched in two different directions in the Kharkiv region from Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia is trying to disperse Ukrainian forces by opening a new front in Kharkiv to take advantage of weakened defenses in other areas to advance.
In the face of the new Russian offensive, Zelensky ordered the sending of reinforcements to Kharkiv and canceled all commitments abroad in the coming days, including planned trips to Spain and Portugal.
