Macron "shocked" by attack on Slovak PM
French President Emmanuel Macron said he was "shocked" by the shooting today of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who is in critical condition.

"I strongly condemn this attack. My thoughts and solidarity go to him, his family and the Slovak people," added the French head of state in a message posted on the social network X.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is "between life and death", according to the government in Bratislava, after being the target of a shooting attack today, according to his official Facebook page, indicating that the next hours "will be decisive"
Slovak television TA3 reported that the 59-year-old Slovak leader was shot four times in the stomach, fired from outside the House of Culture in the city of Handlova, located about 150 kilometers northeast of the capital.
The police isolated the scene and the suspect was arrested.
The Slovak leader was airlifted to Banská Bystrica, 29 kilometers away.
