An Algerian man who went missing 26 years ago has been found in a neighbor's barn in a village in the Djelfa province, about 300 kilometers (186 miles) from the capital Algiers, the Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency reported.
Now 45, the man, identified only as Omar B., vanished without a trace in 1998 when he was 19. His disappearance came during the Algerian Civil War, which lasted from 1991 to 2002, and his family had presumed he had been kidnapped or killed.
Omar was found in a barn about 200 meters from his family home after his alleged kidnapper's brother posted about him on social media amid an inheritance dispute, the Algerian Justice Ministry told AFP.

The suspect, a 61-year-old man from the neighboring town of El Guedid, was arrested after he tried to flee. The victim said he had been unable to seek help "because of a spell that his abductor had cast on him," according to media reports.
The Algerian ministry said the case is still under investigation, while the victim is receiving medical and psychological care for what it described as a "heinous crime."
