The Hague, May 15, 2024 (Lusa) - The European police coordination agency, Europol, was the target of a "recent" attempted cyberattack, but it was detected "immediately" and no operational data was compromised, a spokesperson told Efe. "Neither Europol's central system nor its operational systems were hacked, which means that none of the institution's operational data was compromised," the source explained, assuring that the Europol Experts Platform, a closed group of users for exchanging private messages, was also not affected. "We are aware of the incident and are assessing the situation. Initial measures have already been taken. The attempt occurred recently and was discovered immediately," he added. Last March, the agency, based in The Hague, indicated that "personal administrative files of several employees" had disappeared, but also stressed at the time that this "incident", which occurred last summer, did not affect the "operational personal data" of the agency's main activity, without giving further details about the investigation. Some of the files were found in The Hague, abandoned in a public place and handed over to the police. Read Also: "False". Isabel dos Santos disputes Interpol's "Red Notice" (Portuguese version)
