Putin arrives in China for two-day visit
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in China today for a two-day visit during which he will meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

According to images released by Russian television, upon arriving at the Beijing airport, Putin was received by local leaders and an honor guard.
This is Putin's first visit abroad since he was reelected in March for a fifth presidential term and his second trip to China in less than a year.
Putin's visit to China follows a recent trip by Xi to Europe, amid pressure from the West for the Chinese leader to use his influence with his Russian counterpart to end the offensive in Ukraine.
The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin, recalled on Monday that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and that Beijing highly values "the strategic orientation of the diplomacy of the two heads of state" in their bilateral relations.
