Ukrainian army says it has prevented Russian "advance" in Kharkiv region
The Ukrainian military said Sunday it had halted the Russian "advance" in parts of the northeastern Kharkiv region, where Russia launched a surprise attack Friday, seizing new territory.

"The situation in the Kharkiv region remains difficult and is developing dynamically. Our defense forces managed to partially stabilize the situation," said the spokesman for the Ukrainian forces in the region, Nazar Voloshin, describes the international agency AFP.
In a television statement, Nazar Voloshin assured that the Russian advance was, in some areas, "interrupted".
"The enemy's advance in some areas and localities was interrupted, but [Russia] is still trying to create the conditions for new advances," said the official.
