The Spanish Guardia Civil announced this Wednesday that it had seized 4 tons of hashish, which was camouflaged in chocolate packaging. The seizure took place at the end of April, on two plots of land in the town of La Puebla del Río, Seville.

The force explained in a statement that it had noticed "a van driving in an area near" a river, "making maneuvers that aroused suspicion".

"The agents began to follow the van and verified that it had made two stops on two plots of land in the town, which led the operatives to suspect that they could be two hashish nurseries," it said.

In addition, "they verified that there were several people providing security on those plots of land and that, upon seeing the presence of uniformed agents, they abandoned the site at a fast pace through the countryside".

The civil guards organized a security operation, which culminated in searches of the plots of land, where "114 bales of hashish, a plantation with 260 marijuana plants, two stolen vans, and numerous documents belonging to the perpetrators were seized".

"The seized hashish weighed 4,000 kilos, much of it in small quantities in chocolate packaging," the same note informs.
