Half of the amount is intended for air defense and the rest for the purchase of artillery, grenades and mines, Rasmussen said at the end of a meeting of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, where the government's proposal received the support of a majority of MPs.
"It's quite a large package. We are currently the country that provides the most military support to Ukraine in proportional terms," Rasmussen said.
This is the 18th aid package approved by Denmark since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and it imposes the condition that part of the support be spent on direct purchases from Ukrainian defense industries.
In March last year, the Danish parliament approved the Ukraine Fund, with an allocation of 64.8 billion Danish kroner (8.684 billion euros) to be used between 2023 and 2028.
Ukraine has been counting on financial and armament aid from its Western allies since Russia invaded the country on 24 February 2022.
Kyiv's allies have also imposed sanctions on key sectors of the Russian economy in an attempt to reduce Moscow's ability to finance the war effort in Ukraine.
