Retired police officer held hostage in armed robbery over stove sale

A retired police officer was held hostage during an assault on Tuesday afternoon, in the São Paulo region, Brazil. A group of two men and a woman, aged 23, 41 and 43, went to the victim's residence under the pretext of collecting a stove that the woman had put up for sale on the Internet, reported the newspaper Metrópoles. However, the woman, who was tied up by the trio, said that the criminals were looking for jewelry and weapons. The individuals tried to steal the victim's vehicle to escape, but she managed to trick them until she got loose and called the authorities for help via a landline telephone. The authorities caught the robbers red-handed inside the building. They also seized a .38 caliber gun, two vehicle keys and personal belongings of the victim.
