A man has been arrested after being involved in an incident on the High-Speed line in Cuenca, Spain, when he was detected travelling without a train ticket.

According to the police, in a press release to which the newspaper Hoy had access, the case dates back to last week, when the suspect was caught without a ticket on a train.

At that moment, the man decided to threaten the employee who confronted him and jump off the moving train, breaking one of the windows with the emergency hammer.

The suspect fled on foot towards a nearby tunnel, in the direction of Madrid, which forced the train to make an emergency stop and return to the station.

The damage caused to the high-speed train, as well as the economic losses caused to the rail traffic that had to be suspended for an hour and a half, amount to more than 16 thousand euros.

After being involved in this incident, he took refuge in a nearby house, where he spent the night and got rid of the clothes he was wearing, as well as the train hammer with which he broke the carriage window.

The following morning, he was surprised by the owner of the property, and did not hesitate to take a large knife to threaten the owner of the house and steal his mobile phone, before starting to flee.

The victim managed to ask a neighbour for help and provide a description of the aggressor to the emergency services. A patrol of the National Police quickly arrived at the scene and managed to surprise the suspect when he was trying to escape with the knife and the stolen mobile phone still in his hand.

After his arrest and based on his physical characteristics, the authorities were able to verify that he was the same person who, the day before, had been involved in the incident that occurred on the High-Speed line in Cuenca.

The property where he took refuge was inspected, and the police managed to recover both the train hammer with which he broke the window, as well as the clothes he was wearing at the time of the incident.
