Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has undergone another surgery after being shot on Wednesday, and is still in a very serious condition.
The information was released by the country’s deputy prime minister and defence minister, Robert Kalinak, as quoted by the international press. "His condition is still very serious. I think it will take a couple of days until we see the development of his condition", the minister told reporters.
Fico, 59, was shot several times while greeting supporters after a government meeting in Handlova.
The Slovak prime minister was hit in the abdomen, near the House of Culture, located about 150 kilometres northeast of the capital.
The police cordoned off the area and the suspect was arrested.
