'It looked like it had just woken up from hibernation': Bear ambles across highway in US
The animal appeared on the road and wandered between the cars, which had to remain stopped. The moment was captured on video.

A bear surprised drivers on a California highway earlier this week. The animal wandered onto the road and ambled between stopped cars.
The moment was captured on video by Dan Kanes, a driver who was on the scene. Kanes told ABC News that the incident had drivers concerned because of safety.
"The bear looked like it had just come out of hibernation and appeared to be hungry or thirsty and a bit disoriented," Dan Kanes said in an email.
Despite the surprise appearance, Kanes said drivers waited for the bear to leave the roadway.
@abcnews A bear slowed traffic on a Southern California freeway before retreating back toward the nearby hills. The driver who captured the footage says the bear appeared to have just come out of hibernation and may have been "a little confused," adding that fellow "motorists displayed compassion and patience for the bear and we all safely helped usher him away from the freeway."
