"We know that four civilians were killed. At least eight people were injured," said the governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Synegoubov, quoted by the France-Presse (AFP) agency, adding that Russian forces "attacked the area where the inhabitants were resting".

According to the local official, the bombing hit the Malondanylivka district, in the northwest of the region.

The assault on this region was launched on 10 May and, after an intensification of air strikes, Moscow has achieved some of its greatest territorial gains in almost a year and a half.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, since then, the invading Russian forces have advanced between five and 10 kilometres along the northeast border.

Kharkiv, the capital of the region, is the second largest city in Ukraine and had more than 1.4 million inhabitants before the war triggered by the Russian invasion of February 2022.

On the Russian side, during the morning, local authorities announced the suspension of the activity of an oil refinery in Krasnodar, after an attack by six unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).

"Six drones crashed into the territory of the refinery in Slaviansk-on-Kuban," wrote the local head of the Slaviansk administrative region, Roman Siniagovski, on the Telegram messaging platform.

The refinery, part of the Slaviansk EKO group, is one of the largest in southern Russia.

Speaking to Interfax, the head of security at the refinery, Eduard Trutnev, said that the factory "is currently at a standstill" and that they are "assessing the damage" caused by the attacks.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, 57 Ukrainian drones have been intercepted since Saturday night in Krasnodar.

In addition to this region, Ukrainian air strikes were also recorded in Belgorod and in the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014.
