Authorities are trying to find the person responsible for the run-over, according to a statement from the security directorate of Al Qaliubiya, a province north of Cairo.

The death toll from the run-over rose to seven after one of the injured died upon arrival at Qaliub Public Hospital, according to the statement, which indicated that 10 ambulances and a police force moved to the scene of the incident to treat the injured.

The Egyptian media outlet Al Shorouk revealed that the incident occurred on a circular road in the Bahtim area, where the bus hit a group of people, adding that the injured were taken to Qaliub Hospital, while the dead were taken to Naser Public Hospital in Shubra Al Jema.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution is currently investigating the accident.

On April 19, eight people died and eight others were injured, some of them seriously, when the minibus they were traveling in overturned on a road in the Nile Delta, northeast of Cairo.

Road accidents in Egypt are common due to speeding and poor road conditions, as well as the lack of road signs on most roads.
