"At least four Hezbollah fighters were killed in strikes on Naqoura and Meiss el-Jabal," two border towns, a source close to the Shiite group told Agence France Presse (AFP).

A Hezbollah fighter was also killed in a strike in neighboring Syria that was also blamed on Israel, another source in the Iran-backed Lebanese group told AFP.

Hezbollah said five of its fighters, including the two in Naqoura, had been killed, without providing a breakdown of where or when they died.

ANI said the Israeli strike on Naqoura targeted an area where Hezbollah-affiliated rescue workers were based.

The agency later said an "enemy air strike targeted a motorbike" on the entrance to the coastal town of Al-Mansouri, leaving "one martyr and one wounded", without giving further details.

The Israeli army said it had targeted "a Hezbollah terror cell" in the Meiss el-Jabal area, hitting "a weapons storage facility and a military compound" of the Lebanese group.

"During the past day [Monday], numerous shooting incidents were identified, targeting different areas in northern Israel. Following a hit in the area of Biranit, one soldier was lightly injured and evacuated for medical treatment," the Israeli army said.

"Helicopters... targeted a Hezbollah shooter in the area of Ayta Ash Shab, from where the shots were identified," it added.

Hezbollah said it had targeted Israeli military positions in response to "Israeli aggression, particularly in Naqoura".

Hezbollah has regularly targeted northern Israel since a war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas began on May 10, while Israeli forces have carried out increasingly deep strikes inside Lebanon.

Seven months of cross-border violence have killed at least 425 people in Lebanon, the vast majority of them Hezbollah fighters but also at least 82 civilians, according to an AFP tally.

On the Israeli side, at least 14 soldiers and 11 civilians have been killed in the violence, according to the authorities.
