The 72-year-old man who killed his two young grandchildren, aged 10 and 12, and then took his own life in Huétor Tájar, in Granada, Spain, was described as "an exemplary grandfather" who "went to the cemetery every day".

Two months earlier, the man had lost his daughter and wife in a traffic accident. The grandfather was driving the car in which the whole family was travelling and in which they had the accident. He fainted at the wheel and his daughter and wife lost their lives. The grandchildren were in intensive care for a week due to head injuries and several broken bones.

According to the locals, the septuagenarian was a calm and peaceful person and was going through a bad time. He went to the cemetery every day to visit his wife and daughter and used to go for bike rides, and was also "an exemplary grandfather", very dedicated to his grandchildren, reports the television channel Telecinco.

Even so, the 'grandfather of Huétor Tájar' was a man of few words, with few friends. "He didn't drink, didn't smoke, didn't go to bars.... He was always alone with his wife and grandchildren", revealed a local resident in statements to the local newspaper Granada Hoy.

It should be remembered that the father of the children who were killed by their grandfather in Spain had to be admitted to hospital when he heard about the death of his children. He is sedated and receiving psychological treatment.
