Trump New York Trial Nears Jury Deliberations
Former US President Donald Trump's New York trial nears jury deliberations as the defendant rests his case without testifying over hush-money payments to silence a sex scandal during the 2016 election campaign.

Trump lawyer Todd Blanche indicated to the judge Tuesday that the defense will not call any more witnesses after presenting a former federal prosecutor who attacked the credibility of the prosecution’s star witness, the businessman’s former aide Michael Cohen, who prosecutors allege was central to the hush-money scheme.
The jury was sent home until Monday, when closing arguments are expected, but lawyers spent Tuesday arguing over how the judge will instruct the jury to deliberate.
Trump, the first former U.S. president to face a criminal trial, again left court without speaking to reporters and ignored a shouted question about why he did not testify.
The Republican presidential candidate has said previously that he wanted to testify to defend himself against what he calls politically motivated charges.
Trump is on trial for allegedly falsifying business records in a scheme prosecutors say was designed to conceal hush-money payments made to cover up a sexual encounter before the 2016 presidential campaign.
After more than four weeks of testimony, jurors could begin deliberating next week on whether to convict the former president on 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Prosecutors have accused Trump of orchestrating a scheme to silence negative stories before the 2016 presidential campaign against Democrat Hillary Clinton and then falsifying internal business records to cover it up.
Trump has pleaded not guilty and has denied any wrongdoing in the case.
