The Public University of Navarre has decided to cut ties with Israeli centers that do not reject crimes against humanity, while Pablo de Olavide, in Seville, has directly broken off all current and future relations with companies and educational centers in Israel, reported the Efe agency.
Meanwhile, thousands of university students continue to camp out in front of their educational centers in protest, and even the students who have been at Pablo de Olavide for a week have decided to maintain their position of strength, including a barricade at the rector's office, despite the decision of this academy to break off relations.
In Seville, in addition, a demonstration took place from the university's rector's office to the Faculty of Law, to demand the cutting of relations with companies and educational centers in Israel, in addition to the camp that has also been taking place in these facilities for more than a week.
This is one of the demands of the student camps at Spanish universities, which began two weeks ago.
In Granada, the camp that began on May 8 was lifted, after the university announced on Friday the breaking of relations with centers in Israel.
In previous days, the universities of Barcelona and Jaén also broke off institutional and academic relations until the "genocide" was stopped.
In Santiago de Compostela, university students have continued to camp out in the Faculty of History since last Tuesday and have called for another rally this Wednesday to denounce the "silence" shown by the authorities of the academic institution regarding the war in Gaza.
In Murcia, university students have been staying on the university's La Merced campus since May 13, to demand that the rector's office also break off any relations with Israel, welcome the Palestinian educational community, and condemn the destruction of universities in Gaza and the West Bank.
Meanwhile, in Madrid, the associations of the 'Palestine Camp' denounced the "unilateral collapse" of the negotiations with the vice-rectors of the six public universities, whom they urge to resume contacts and to "position themselves on the good side and stop being complicit in a genocide".
The professors who make up the University Network of the Community of Madrid for Palestine will relieve the students in the camps, so that "they can rest and resume their preparation for the exams in the period that begins".
The war in Gaza began with a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which caused about 1,200 deaths and more than two hundred hostages, according to Israeli authorities.
More than 35,600 Palestinians have been killed since then in the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in the death toll.
