A retired Guardia Civil agent has been accused of falsifying more than 60 medical prescriptions from ISFAS (Social Institute of the Armed Forces), which he used between December 2019 and July 2020 in Ibiza, Spain.

As detailed by the Public Prosecutor's Office in the indictment, to which Última Hora had access, the 74-year-old man filled out a total of 62 prescriptions from a prescription pad that was in his name and that were apparently signed by a doctor. However, the agent had forged the healthcare professional's signature.

A total of 51 of the falsified prescriptions were used in different pharmacies in Ibiza to obtain benzodiazepines, paracetamol and antihypertensives between the end of 2019 and July 2020.

The man, according to the public prosecution, obtained the medicines with a significant discount on their retail price, since a substantial part was paid for by ISFAS. This amount came to 139.64 euros.

After the facts were ascertained, the agent was charged with a continued crime of continued falsification of official documents and continued minor fraud.

The trial will take place in a Palma Criminal Court and he could be sentenced to two years and four months in prison and a fine of 540 euros.
