Firefighters receive award for rescuing horse Caramelo

The Fire Department of São Paulo received an award for rescuing the horse Caramelo, who was isolated on a roof in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul.
According to the website G1, the corporation revealed that the operatives who participated in the rescue were honored by an NGO internationally recognized for animal protection.
Recall that Caramelo's story moved the Internet and quickly went viral. Nine firefighters, six veterinarians, and volunteers participated in the rescue.
The animal weighs between 450 and 500 kilos.
Recall that the state of Rio Grande do Sul has been devastated by heavy rains since the end of April.
According to the latest data, the rains have already caused at least 162 deaths.
In Rio Grande do Sul, there are more than 72,000 people housed in public shelters because they have lost their homes, and another 581,000 are displaced (living with relatives or friends) due to the rains that affect the entire state, and that have affected at least 2.3 million people living in 464 cities.
