"There will be serious consequences to the relations with these countries following their decision," spokesman Oren Marmorstein said in a statement released after meeting with the ambassadors of the three European countries, who were summoned for a "dressing down" a day after announcing their decision to recognize the State of Palestine as of May 28.

On Wednesday, Spain, Ireland and Norway announced that they will recognize the State of Palestine on May 28, prompting Israel to call in its ambassadors to the three countries for consultations.
The announcements by the three countries, which were welcomed by Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt, bring to 146 the number of United Nations member states that recognize the State of Palestine.
Malta and Slovenia have also said they could soon follow suit, while Israel has slammed all such moves, saying they will have a negative impact on the region.
On the same day, a senior White House official said that US President Joe Biden opposes unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.
"[Joe Biden] believes that a Palestinian state must come through direct negotiations between the parties and not through unilateral gestures," said Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the US National Security Council.
"The President [Biden] is a strong supporter of a two-state solution and has been throughout his career. He believes that a Palestinian state must come through direct negotiations between the parties and not through unilateral gestures," she said, reacting to the decision by the three European countries to recognize the State of Palestine.
Separately, also on Thursday, the director-general of Israel's foreign ministry, Jacob Blitstein, rebuked the ambassadors of the three countries.
"Your governments' decision is a reward for Hamas and Hamas congratulates you for it," Blitstein said during the meeting at the Israeli foreign ministry in Jerusalem, according to a statement from the ministry.
"It will have most serious consequences for our relations with your countries," Blitstein warned Ana Salomon of Spain, Sonya McGuinness of Ireland and Per Egil Selvaag of Norway.
The three European ambassadors were confronted with a video released on Wednesday showing Hamas militants entering a military observation post in Nahal Oz, near the Gaza Strip, and detaining and leading away several soldiers.
"Your governments' recognition does not advance peace and gives Hamas a boost, making it even harder to advance a deal for the release of the hostages," the Israeli diplomat insisted.
Blitstein stressed that Israel has no intention of ending the war in Gaza until it achieves its objectives: "the end of Hamas, the return of all those abducted and the return of security to all its citizens."
Israel summoned the three ambassadors on Wednesday for a "dressing down", and also recalled its envoys to Madrid, Dublin and Oslo for consultations, after the governments announced almost simultaneously their intention to recognize the Palestinian state.
Foreign Minister Israel Katz called the move a "reward for the Hamas terrorists," while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "you don't give a state to evil."
More than 140 countries recognize the Palestinian state, including eight in Europe - Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Cyprus and Sweden - as well as almost all Arab countries or those historically linked to the Non-Aligned Movement.
