According to a report presented today, in the WHO European Region, about 20% of 15-year-olds surveyed reported having used e-cigarettes in the past 30 days.

"Despite important progress in reducing tobacco use, the emergence of e-cigarettes and other new nicotine and tobacco products pose a serious threat to young people and tobacco control," WHO warned.

During an 'online' press conference, experts warned about the wide variety of flavours (16,000) and new products, launched with advertising campaigns that target young people.

A study conducted in the United States revealed that more than 70% of young e-cigarette users would quit if the products were only available in tobacco flavour.

Studies show that e-cigarette use increases the use of conventional cigarettes by almost three times, especially among young non-smokers.

According to WHO, there are eight million tobacco-related deaths worldwide.
